Water For Wildlife & Wetlands ...

Alberta's irrigation facilities are a natural attraction for wildlife. More than 250 species of birds can be viewed over the year at the Kinbrook Marsh just south of Brooks, Alberta.
Partnerships with conservation organizations, such as Ducks Unlimited, have been in effect for more than 50 years. Recent initiatives, such as Partners in Habitat Development, are assisting land owners and irrigators in managing portions of their land as improved habitat.

Did Your Know?

Looking for an abundance of watchable wildlife? Then don't head to the mountains, head to Alberta's irrigated prairie region. Alberta's irrigation infrastructure provides water support to more than 80,000 acres of critical wetland habitat. As well, more than 150,000 acres of uplands are managed for wildlife and livestock production.
If There's Water...There's Life! Irrigation has drought-proofed critically important wetlands. Canada Geese make southern Alberta irrigation country their own.
